We met Maren Holt on a grey morning, in a café facing the harbour, two days before [Letters from the Lighthouse](https://vitrine.samadesign.dev/letters-from-the-lighthouse/) went to print.

## Why letters?

“Because a letter is a promise that someone will listen. Even if you are alone on a rock in the sea, writing a letter means you are not talking to yourself.”

## And why out of order?

“That is how we remember people. Not from the beginning. From a sentence, a smell, a window — and then we go back and forth.”

## What are you writing now?

“A diary. I have kept one since I was nine. Maybe one day it will be a book. Probably not.”
