Small Rooms, Long Winters — reading guide
Short stories by Jonas Berg: the first pages, questions for reading groups and a word about the author.
About the book
Twelve stories set in twelve small apartments of the same building, over one very long winter.
The first pages
Mrs Lind on the fourth floor has been waiting for the radiator man since November. She has made coffee for him every morning, just in case, and every evening she drinks it cold, standing at the window, watching the snow decide what the street will look like tomorrow. Today, for the first time, someone knocks. It is not the radiator man. It is a boy from the second floor, holding a cat that is not his.
For reading groups
- Which apartment would you choose to live in?
- How are the twelve stories connected?
- What does the winter change in each character?
